What an outdoor evening event here actually needs
Two local facts decide most of the lighting plan, and most timelines ignore both.
It gets dark earlier than the timeline assumes. An outdoor ceremony that begins in daylight will finish in the dark for most of the year outside high summer.
The lighting has to be working before anyone notices they need it, which means it is tested and live before guests arrive, not switched on when someone says it is getting dark.
It gets cold quickly after sundown. St. George’s average November low is 34.7 °F and December’s is 27.9 °F (NOAA historical record), and freezing mornings start around November 12. Guests move under cover sooner than the schedule expects. The covered space, the heaters and the path to them all need to be lit already.
The second one is the reason pathway and perimeter lighting is not an add-on here. It is how people get from parking to ceremony, and from ceremony to the warm room, without a phone torch.
What we install
- Bistro / café string lighting over courtyards, lawns, patios and tents — the most-requested look, and the one that lives or dies on anchor points and sag.

How the day is scheduled

- Written plan what goes where, load-in and load-out, and who at the venue signs off.
- Load-in on the venue’s window usually the day before or the morning of.
- Check before guests arrive with a spare of every consumable on the van.
- Strike same night or next morning, whichever the venue requires.

Working with your venue and planner
Venues have rules about what may be fixed to what, where a lift may go, and when a vendor may be on site.
We would rather learn those from the venue three weeks early than from a coordinator ninety minutes before the ceremony. Send us the venue name and the planner’s contact and we will handle it.

How far ahead should we book?
As soon as the date and venue are confirmed. It is purely first-come — we can only do one event on a date.
Do you work at venues you have not been to before?
Yes. That is what the site visit is for, and it is why we book the visit weeks out rather than days.
Do you supply power?
We work from the venue’s power where there is enough of it, and we tell you at the site visit if there is not.
Can you match our colors?
Uplighting, yes. String lighting is warm white, because that is what makes people look good in photographs.
What if the weather turns?
The gear is outdoor-rated and installed to be safe in weather. What weather changes is the timeline, so the plan has a weather call in it and a named person who makes it.
Do you take it down too?
Yes. Strike is in the quote, on the venue’s schedule.
