Washington is at 2,894 feet, about 360 feet above St. George's 2,530.
That is a smaller gap than Hurricane's or Cedar City's, and there is no Washington-specific climate record on file, so we plan the season here on St. George's NOAA figures: an average November low of 34.7 °F, an average December low of 27.9 °F, and a freezing-morning window that opens around November 12 and runs into mid-March.
The practical result is the same install window as the rest of the county — October into the first ten days of November — and the same competition for those dates. Booking before the weather turns is what gets you scheduled ahead of Thanksgiving, not after.
A newer, faster-growing side of the county
Washington had about 27,993 residents at the 2020 Census, making it one of the larger cities in the county behind St. George itself, and a lot of that growth shows up as newer subdivisions with simple, single-slope rooflines rather than the older mixed housing stock closer to the center of St. George.
A cleaner roofline is genuinely faster to hang and service, but it is not a reason to skip the design walk-through: peaks, dormers and two-story entries still each need their own clip plan, and nothing goes up until we have agreed where the lines run.
When should lights go up in Washington?
Same window as St. George: October into the first ten days of November. Waiting until Thanksgiving week means competing with every other homeowner in the county for the same installers.
What about a two-story entry?
Common in the newer parts of Washington. It changes the ladder and the clip approach, not whether we can do it — we plan for the height at the walk-through, not on install day.
Why does a newer roof still need a walk-through?
A simple roofline is faster to hang, but "simple" still has peaks, gables and gutter runs that need their own clip choice. We look at the actual house before we quote it.
Washington and the reserve at its back door
Washington is in Washington County, immediately east of St. George. The Bureau of Land Management lists Washington as one of five communities — alongside St. George, Santa Clara, Ivins and Leeds — that surround the southern boundary of the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area.
Addresses on that edge of town tend to back onto open desert rather than another yard, which is one more reason we look at each roofline in person rather than quoting from a satellite photo.
It also means a run on that side of town gets a little extra slack and a few extra clips, the same wind-planning we apply anywhere a house backs onto open ground rather than a sheltered block.
What a Washington install actually looks like
We start at the house: a walk-through to measure the rooflines, peaks and walkways you want lit, and to agree what stays dark, before anything is ordered. Installation happens on a scheduled date, usually finished in one visit, on commercial-grade lights rather than a hardware-store string.
You do not buy the lights, and you do not store them afterward. If a section goes dark mid-season, you call us and we come fix it, and in January we take everything down and hold it until next year.
A newer two-story entry is exactly the kind of roofline where hiring this out matters most: the ladder work is higher and the fall is worse, and it is usually the first house on the block to skip lights entirely once the owner has done it once in the cold and decided it was not worth repeating.
One route, not four
Washington, St. George, Santa Clara and Ivins are close enough that we do not run a separate crew or a separate schedule for each. If your neighbor in St. George is getting an install the same week, that is the same crew coming to Washington next.
That matters at the busy end of the season. A town with its own dedicated crew can end up waiting behind a backlog that has nothing to do with its own weather.
Sharing one route across the whole eastern side of the county means the schedule fills on a first-booked basis rather than a per-town queue.
