Utah Valley is a colder job than St. George
Provo sits at 4,551 feet in Utah County, with a 2020 census population of 115,162. Orem, also in Utah County, sits at 4,767 feet with a 2020 census population of 98,129. Lehi, also in Utah County, sits at 4,561 feet. All three are roughly two thousand feet higher than St. George.

Provo runs milder overnight than Lehi at almost the same elevation, but both sit below St. George in November and December. We do not publish a separate climate figure for Orem; the same booking window applies across the valley.
The practical effect: the comfortable install window runs through October into the first days of November, and takedown in January gets scheduled around the actual roof, not a date picked in advance.

The lights, clips and controllers arrive with the crew and leave with the crew in January, so there is no bin of tangled strands taking up space in the garage between seasons.
Lehi, Provo, Orem: one process across the valley
Wherever in Utah Valley you are, the sequence is the same: a design visit to walk the roofline and agree what lights up, an install on the date we set, a call if a section goes dark mid-season, and a January pickup once the holidays are over.

Cold-weather materials, briefly
With average November lows between 25 °F and the low 30s across the valley, plastic clips get more brittle to handle and the safe working day gets shorter.
That is a crew-handling issue, not a reason the lights themselves fail — LED strings sold for outdoor holiday use are rated for what the valley sees in a normal winter.
It is also why we do not push installs into late November here. A frosty roofline in the morning and a short daylight window in the afternoon both cut into a crew’s working hours, and rushing a cold install is how corners get cut on a job that is supposed to hold up for the whole season.

When should I book in Utah Valley?

January, scheduled around the weather rather than a fixed date. With average December lows of 18 °F in Lehi and 24.2 °F in Provo, an icy north-facing roof is a reason to move a takedown by a few days, not to push on.
Does the cold damage the lights?
