Serving St. George - Salt Lake City - Utah Valley & the Wasatch Front

Pergola walkway strung with warm bistro lights for an evening event

Wedding & Event Lighting

Event lighting has one hard rule that holiday lighting does not: there is no second attempt. The date does not move, the venue's access window does not stretch, and if something is not working at five o'clock it is not getting fixed at six.

We install lighting for weddings, receptions and private events from St. George to Salt Lake City — bistro strings over a courtyard, uplighting against walls and trees, ceiling installs in tents and halls — and we build the schedule backwards from the ceremony, not forwards from our own convenience.

What we install

  • Bistro / café string lighting. The warm overhead canopy over a courtyard, patio, lawn or tent. The most-asked-for look, and the one that most depends on getting the anchor points and the catenary sag right.
  • Uplighting. Color or warm white washing walls, columns, rock faces and trees.
  • Ceiling and tent installs. Strings, drapes and canopies inside a tent, barn or hall.
  • Pathway and perimeter lighting. Getting guests from the parking to the ceremony in the dark, safely, which every outdoor evening event needs and about half of them plan for.
  • Ceremony and feature lighting. Arbor, altar, head table, cake, dance floor.

St. George-area venues and what they need

Outdoor evening events here run against two facts. It gets dark earlier than people plan for, especially outside high summer, and an outdoor ceremony that starts in daylight will finish in the dark.

And it gets cold quickly after sundown at this elevation, so guests move indoors or under cover sooner than the timeline assumes — which is where the lighting needs to already be.

How the day is scheduled

  1. Site visit anchor points, power, access, and the venue's own rules.
  2. Written plan what goes where, load-in and load-out times, and who at the venue signs off.
  3. Load-in on the venue's window usually the day before or the morning of.
  4. On-site check before guests arrive with a spare of every consumable in the van.
  5. Strike same night or next morning, whichever the venue requires.

Working with your venue and planner

Most venues have rules about what can be fixed to what, where a lift can go, and when a vendor can be on site.

We would rather find that out from the venue three weeks early than from a coordinator ninety minutes before the ceremony. Give us the venue name and the planner's contact and we will handle that conversation.

Book the date

Event work is date-locked, so it is first-come. If you have a date, tell us the date, the venue and roughly how many guests, and we will tell you straight away whether we can do it.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Something else on your mind? Call (435) 357-0411 and ask us.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as the venue and date are confirmed. Event lighting is date-locked, so it is purely first-come.

Do you supply power?

We work from the venue's power where there is enough of it, and we tell you at the site visit if there is not.

Can you match our colors?

Uplighting, yes — it is color-selectable. String lighting is warm white, because that is what makes people look good in photographs.

What happens if it rains, or the wind gets up?

The gear is outdoor-rated and it is installed to be safe in weather. What weather changes is the timeline, so the plan has a weather call built into it and a named person who makes it.

Do you set up and take down, or just set up?

Both. Strike is in the quote, on the venue's schedule.

Can you light a venue you have not worked at before?

Yes. That is what the site visit is for.
