That middle position matters for how we schedule the job: Kanab does not need the same summer-only urgency as Cedar City, but it needs more caution than St. George.
A seasonal install still means two trips onto the roofline a year, and the January takedown trip lands squarely in Kanab's snowiest stretch — the town gets about 22 inches of snow in a normal year (NOAA). A permanent system removes both trips after the first one.

Kanab had 4,683 people at the 2020 Census, sitting right on the Arizona line, seven miles north of Fredonia on US-89A. It still calls itself Utah’s Little Hollywood for the westerns once filmed around it.

Waiting until the three weeks before Thanksgiving means competing for a shrinking number of dry, above-freezing days — the same days every seasonal install in the area also wants. There is no reason to wait that long when the channel can go up any time from spring through early fall.
What it does the rest of the year
The same run that carries a holiday color in December can run warm white every other night, or a different scene for a birthday or the Fourth of July.
In a small town, a warm, consistent porch and roofline light is also just useful — it is on every night on a dusk timer, not only for six weeks a year.
Who this suits in Kanab
If you expect to be in the house for years, permanent tends to win out here for the same reason it does in Cedar City: fewer trips onto a cold roof, spread over fewer years than you'd think.
