In St. George, permanent lighting is mostly about convenience and roof type. In Cedar City it is about the calendar.
Cedar City sits at 5,670 feet. Its average November low is 23.6 °F and its average December low is 16.3 °F — roughly twelve degrees colder than St. George, fifty miles down I-15.
A seasonal install means two trips onto your roofline a year, and the second one is in January. At these temperatures that is a genuinely bad job: cold roofs, possible ice on the north face, brittle clips, and a short safe working day. Every single year, for as long as you want lights.

At this elevation that is not a preference, it is the plan. The channel goes up in dry weather above freezing. Cedar City’s average November low is already below freezing, so the sensible window is late spring through September, with October as the edge.

Built for an Iron County winter
Two failure modes matter at altitude and a fixed system handles both better than strands do.
Thermal cycling. Seasonal strands spend eleven months boxed up and then two months cycling between 16 °F nights and daytime sun. That is what kills connections and clouds lenses. A permanent system is outdoor-rated and stays out all year, which is actually easier on it.
Ice and wind loading on a long run. A fixed channel mechanically anchored to the fascia carries a snow or ice load differently from a clipped strand, which is part of why it survives seasons that strands do not.
Permanent or seasonal in Cedar City

Can you see it in daylight?
